Gary Sredzienski, Accordionist Extraordinaire presents “Accordion Languages”

Gary Sredzienski, Accordion19 unique selections in combination with a variety of instruments to highlight the limitless musical possibilities of the piano accordion. Polish, Celtic, Balkan, Parisian, Tango, Swing, Classical, and much more!! The different styles of music in this album were originally written for or performed on other instruments.

I adapted these selections to highlight the limitless musical possibilities of the accordion. Each piece reveals a unique character of the instrument through its difference in tone and its relationship with a variety of other instruments. This album reflects the cultures and people who have shaped my soul with their music and friendship.

The accordion is an amazingly versatile instrument, with roots in many cultures. Gary maintains the Old World tradition of the performing accordionist and demonstrates the diversity of the instrument with a wide variety of styles encompassing several continents. He has transposed Slavic, Yiddish, Balkan, Celtic, Scandinavian, folk, classical, jazz, and old American music for performance on the piano accordion. He revives the spirit of the Old Country in playing and telling the story of long forgotten traditional music and some of the real musical heritage of the accordion.

Gary Sredzienski – From the Porch, Old Country Style, Traditional Polish Music of My Grandparents

Gary Sredzienski, AccordionThis is Gary’s first recording.
These songs come from the homeland of my grandparents. Music that was once played when people gathered together in houses to enjoy each other’s company.

My grandfather, Franciszek Sredzienski, passed away before I was born. I’ve been told that it was his dream to have an accordion player in the family. I dedicate this recording to him and to my grandfather Stanley Topor, my best friend who passed away when I was four.
